How To Create a Topspin HTML Email For Media Widget

The guys at Eyes & Ears Entertainment posted a great article on using the Topspin e4m REST API to create a completely HTML (non Flash) version of an email for media widget. An example of one of these widgets is live at The Asteroids Galaxy Tour site.

Here’s a screenshot of what your typical Flash-based e4m widget looks like:

While you can change the colors and do some cool tricks with transparency, you can’t do much to the layout. Also, this widget renders pretty crudely on the Apple mobile devices.

Berklee College of Music: Online Music Marketing with Topspin

My name is Will Barton (also Australia’s iconic didgeridoo player).  I am currently studying Music at a University located in Melbourne, Australia. Also, working as the Australian Representative for Mobile Roadie and filling in time playing drums in a band that plays country/blues music.

Ever since Topspin went public in March I have been tracking their movements. In being an avid fan of Topspin on the outside, I have to confess that I have a basic idea of how to use the software to its full extent. I am 21 years old and have not yet got a list of artists that I can implement marketing campaigns on.

Although, my future aspirations lead me to start a record label or to be a manager building marketing campaigns for artists.

Once completing my degree I will move straight into commencing the Online Music Marketing with Topspin course at Berklee College of Music.

Mike King @atomzooey, Shamal Ranasinghe @shamalman and Jason Kadlec @JasonKadlec run the course and from what I have heard do a killer job!

This introduction video and more are what brought me to this course.

Mike King does a great job in helping budding musicians, managers, labels, marketers….and many others in the music industry to understand all aspects of the music business.

Mike is also responsible for running a number of other courses at Berklee including -
